Services for consumers, merchants and wireless devices

The Company

InfoSpace, Inc. (NASDAQ: INSP) provides wireless and Internet software and application services. The Company develops software technologies that enable customers to efficiently offer a broad array of network-based services under their own brand to any device.

Naveen Jain, founder, chairman and chief executive officer, founded InfoSpace in March 1996 with the vision of delivering real-world information and services anytime, anywhere and on any device. Jain took InfoSpace public in December 1998.

InfoSpace currently operates offices in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Australia, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Today, as the number of people accessing Internet information and applications continues its rapid growth, so does the array of devices and networks used to connect to these services. Companies that once considered themselves providers of telephone, television, wireless communications or Internet services are now seizing the opportunity to expand their offerings to include commerce, communication, information and entertainment services, among others.

InfoSpace's private-labeled platform and suite of integrated services give companies a competitive edge by allowing them to quickly and cost-effectively deploy innovative new services to customers under their own brand. InfoSpace services are designed to help partners establish tighter customer relationships, attract more customers and drive new revenue streams.

Wireless

InfoSpace's Wireless Business Unit develops, delivers and supports solutions enabling enterprises such as wireless carriers to deliver mobile information services to their customers under their own brand over both current and next generation networks.

The Wireless Business Unit also includes InfoSpace Speech Solutions, which delivers a multi-modal solution that leverages speech for input and query, combined with other display modes to optimize the wireless experience.

InfoSpace provides its wireless solutions to leading companies worldwide, including wireless carriers such as Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, AT&T Wireless, ALLTEL, Virgin Mobile and Deutsche Telekom's VoiceStream; device and equipment manufacturers such as Nortel Networks and Lucent Technologies; and consumer services companies such as Charles Schwab. InfoSpace's wireless solutions include:

  • SMS solutions that allow partners to deliver a broad range of SMS-based services, from asynchronous time and event-based alerts to 2-way `interactive' SMS to cross-carrier SMS text messaging interoperability. Services built on InfoSpace's SMS solution can be delivered to almost any digital phone or pager, extending their reach to virtually any connected mobile device in use today.
  • Location-based services such as maps and directions to nearby businesses and service providers.
  • Communication solutions that provide users with a single interface through which they can send and receive email and instant messages from multiple accounts using almost any device.
  • Commerce solutions such as single-click instant buying, wireless promotions that can be used online or offline and premium downloadable digital services such as ring tones, graphics and icons.
  • Productivity services including a fully integrated address book, calendar and to-do list that can be synchronized with leading desktop productivity applications and accessed from virtually any device.
  • Personalized information services such as real-time stock quotes and weather reports.
  • Speechsolutions, including an open standards-based VoiceXML speech platform and applications that enable the delivery or building of Internet-based consumer and commerce services to consumers from any phone - wired or wireless.

InfoSpace's wireless solutions are device independent, standards agnostic and can be tightly integrated to work seamlessly with third party applications.

Merchant

InfoSpace's Merchant Business Unit is focused on developing solutions to help merchants fully leverage Internet and wireless technologies to grow their business.

The Merchant Business Unit designs and delivers technologies and applications such as payment processing and commerce solutions that enable businesses to establish an online presence, promote their products and services, and conduct secure commerce anytime, anywhere and on any device.

InfoSpace's merchant services are available through a broad distribution channel, including a five-year agreement with Verizon, one of the largest providers of products and services for small to medium sized businesses in the U.S., and major financial institutions such as American Express, Bank of America and Union Bank of California. InfoSpace's merchant services include:

  • Payments solutions that enable merchants to authorize, process, and manage credit card and electronic check transactions in a secure, real-time environment on Internet-enabled mobile devices and personal computers. InfoSpace payments solutions are offered as a private label service to leading merchant banks such as Wells Fargo and Union Bank of California and directly to merchants through InfoSpace's extensive reseller network.
  • Yellow Pages that are distributed through leading Web sites and wireless carriers over a wide range of fixed and mobile Internet-connected devices, offering merchants one of the most expansive networks over which to promote their products and services.
  • Shopping services that offer a private-labeled, end-to-end solution designed to help partners increase traffic, build customer loyalty and drive additional revenue through offering a complete comparison-shopping service to their customers under their own brand. This highly flexible service can be customized to appeal to a partner's specific target market(s) and can be tightly integrated with customer registration and internal loyalty programs.
  • Hosting solutions that provide merchants and Web developers with a flexible and scalable solution for establishing and building secure Web sites.

Wireline

The Wireline Business Unit develops and delivers broadband and narrowband Internet applications and services for InfoSpace's platform.

InfoSpace enables broadband service providers, including Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), cable modem and satellite companies, and Web sites to offer their customers a broad array of compelling private-labeled services, including many next generation applications. InfoSpace develops and deploys these services more efficiently and with a better return than a company could achieve on their own.

InfoSpace's product offering help businesses attract customers, improve loyalty, create new revenue streams and monetize their customer base. Further, InfoSpace's services are private-labeled and delivered with each partner's logo, color scheme and navigation design, strengthening the value of their brand. This ensures that our partners, companies such as AOL, MSN, Verizon Online, NBC, Walt Disney Internet Group, among others, not InfoSpace, own the value relationship with their customer. InfoSpace's Wireline Business Unit is focused on delivering three categories of products:

  • Search solutions powered by InfoSpace offer a combination of the best search engines on the Web, not just one. InfoSpace's search solution simultaneously queries more than a dozen of the Web's leading search engines, producing comprehensive and efficient search results, and extensive revenue generating opportunities.
  • Directory services are an extension of search and include Internet products (Yellow Pages, White Pages and Classifieds) people use every day.
  • Broadband services are designed to take advantage of the connections high-speed Internet service providers deliver. InfoSpace's comprehensive and seamlessly integrated platform of current and next-generation applications and services are targeted at the DSL, cable modem and satellite provider markets, and create compelling reasons for customers to subscribe or migrate to high-speed connections.
