| White Pages |
 |
Q. How can I add my listing to the White Pages? A. Just go to our Add Your Listing page to add your name, phone number, and email address to our directory. To protect your privacy and ensure the entered information is valid, InfoSpace will send an email message to the address you enter. Once InfoSpace receives a reply from you verifying your submission, your listing will be added to the White Pages and/or email search. Q. How do I update or delete my listing? A. It's easy. Just search the White Pages or email search directory to find your listing. Once you have located it, simply click the "update" or "remove" link to the right of your name. To verify your request, InfoSpace will send an email message to the address you provide. Once you confirm the request, your listing will be updated or deleted. Q. How long will it take for additions, changes, and deletions to take effect? A. In most cases, changes take effect within 24 hours of receipt of your verification message. We update our database between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. U.S. Pacific time. Q. What is the source of the data for the White Pages and email directories? A. Data for the White Pages comes from multiple sources, including Acxiom (U.S. and Canada), 192.com (U.K.), and Kapitol (other European countries). These data providers get their information from phone books and other public records. Data in our email directory comes from various Internet service providers and from user submissions. Q. How often is the White Pages data updated? A. InfoSpace receives updates to its U.S. residential data (excluding any additions or changes by users) about four times a year from Acxiom. Because Acxiom's listings come from regional phone books, and because new editions appear at different times of the year around the country, data may be more recent for some regions than others. Q. I have an unlisted telephone number. Why does my information show up in the White Pages? A. This can be easily resolved. It's possible that your local telephone company has made an error and listed your number. Another possibility is that your number was listed in the past and remains in the database. If you wish to remove your listing, please search for it and click the "remove" link that appears next to your name. Q. How come I can't find people who I know have had the same telephone number for a year or more? A. This generally means one of three things: the person has an unlisted telephone number, the person has specifically requested that the number be removed from our directory, or our data provider for that country has not yet added the number to its database. Q. Why can't I find the email addresses I'm looking for? A. There is no central registry of Internet email addresses. We obtain our list of email addresses from many different sources, and, although our database is extensive, it is not all-encompassing. Many people prefer to not have their email address listed, and some Internet service providers do not make the email addresses of their subscribers available. Q. When I register for the Net Phones directory, when will my listing show up? A. When you register with InfoSpace and enter information in all the required fields, your listing will show up immediately in the Net Phones area and within 10 days in the email directory. You will also receive a password that will allow you to update your Net Phones listing.

We have no listings for individual email addresses within a company. Contact the company directly to locate an internal email address.
Q. Do you have a directory of businesses with an online presence? A. Yes, our Companies Online directory lists thousands of companies worldwide that have an Internet presence.
Q. How do I add, update, or delete my listing in Companies Online? A. You may add a business or personal website to the Companies Online directory by visiting our submission page. It will take approximately 30 days for us to verify the submission and add your site to our directory. The option to delete the old listing will be available to you when you find your website listing.

| City Guide |
 |
Q. Why can't I find information for the city I'm looking for? A. Some features may not be available in all cities. If you have trouble finding information for a particular city, try a larger city nearby. Also, make sure you've spelled the name of the city correctly. Q. How do I register my home page so it can be found on InfoSpace (and other sites in the InfoSpace network) once I have built it? A. To register your site in our Companies Online directory, click here. Q. Can I advertise my personal business on my home page? A. The content of your personal home page is at your discretion, provided it remains in good taste. Q. Can I use Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), counters, or personal .wav and .midi files on my home page? A. Our system is a totally new way to make home pages, and some concepts from other home page providers may not apply (for example, we don't allow FTP uploads). Our goal is to offer a very simple page-creation system that requires no knowledge of HTML, programming, or FTP uploads. In the future, we plan to enhance the home pages with more personalization options for users who want them. Q. Why can't I hear the sound file that I requested as background music? A. Depending on your browser, you need certain plug-ins to hear sounds on the Internet. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 3.0 and later, you shouldn't need any additional plug-ins. If you use Netscape Navigator, please visit Netscape's plug-ins page. Q. Can I upload .bmp pictures to my home page? A. No, because .bmp files tend to be too big. We allow uploading of .gif and .jpg files only.
